Coucou tous le monde
Firstly, it is true that a goat kicked me. But it wasn't hard at all, so here's the story. We headed to aboisso for zone conference (my sector is in Ayamé), and my district of 4 people tok some van taxi looking thing. It holds about 12 people, and we crammed 13 ADULTS into it. The 4 elders and I took the back bench and it was tight. They load up all the luggage of some passengers and we start driving. The roads in Ayamé are very awful, think dirt roads up in the canyon. For my family, and friends who know, it's like our cabin roads. Anyway, we stop and start all the time getting through bumpy spots or ditches.
During one of the spots, as soon as we went through the ditch, something brushed the back of my calf. Then over a bump, and it kicked me... So when they were loading luggage on the bus, some things they loaded were some goats. Like live goats... In the trunk... and everytime we stopped and started, they slid further and further underneath the seat until it was right under my seat. We hit another bump and the same thing. I didn't know it was a goat until the second kick. Scared the crap out of me. Then for the rest of the 30 minute drive, I had my feet up as the goat slid even further up the car. So there's my fun Africa story for today. Besides I have a few ready. Africa is so wild. I feel like I'm camping out here for at least 3 months
OK weekly update ( it will be quick)
Friday; went to the temple with my district in Provo (cannot believe that was more than a week ago) Then did other P-day activities
Saturday; went to the temple again, but did sealings for the first time.
Sunday; didn't get a call-out for leaving to the mission field in sacrament
. Go and Do experience was amazing. Great devotional as well.
. Go and Do experience was amazing. Great devotional as well.Monday; packed and said my goodbyes to some missionaries
Tuesday; said some more goodbyes and left for Africa. Traveled
Wednesday; traveled
Thursday; traveled some more. We got there that night so we slept until Friday to have interviews
Friday; woke up in the city of Abidjan and had our companion assignments and locations. Fixed and clarified some things for the mish and headed out. Traveled
I got put in the most far east of the mission so my travel time to get there was 6 hours. We got there late too.
Saturday; first day of procylyting and it went well. Our district is very difficult so a lot of people drop appointment times.
Monday-Thursday; more proselyting and just teaching lessons.
Spiritual thought: the christ-like attribute I want to talk about today is the attribute of knowledge. Good wants his children to grow in knowledge. School and education is important to the lord. Jesus was a very intelligent person. I mean look at him. So you know how many confrontations with the pharisees he was totally chill with. Not for them of course, but he knew their cunningness. Isn't that a sign of intelect? I've noticed that here in Africa, that it is the smart people who challenge the church who are the most fun to talk to. I've heard from other elders that they are the elect we look for. If they stand for their beliefs and maybe seem a little difficult, they will do the same when they are convinced (by themselves) that our church is true. those who follow blindly, will be led away blindly. Those who choose to follow, not because everything fits or makes sense, choose to live the gospel because of the way it makes them feel. Or the way that it helps others. What is your standing in this church? Are you just following what others have told you? Or have you chose to live the gospel for yourself, no matter what the world thinks.
Thanks for reading and if you got this far, send me an email saying you read it. (I wanna see who my real friends are)
Love you guys
