Before I share the story, i want to formally apologize about last weeks email. This is going to make some people mad but, Im sure half of you didn't scroll down far enough.  Go look again, yeah you OK, so, I've found it, the true deep dark woods. It's here in Ayamé and it is looking pretty scary. Me and my comp had some friends pretty far out there to teach a lesson to and when we got there, they weren't home.   so I decided I wanted to take the time we would have been teaching to walk through this forest. A lot of the threes here are not naturally grown. I mean, me and .y comp are far enough out there that we see some wild trees. But most trees you see here are orchards grown by the people here. But on this trip through the deep dark orchards I guess, we found that there is a house at the back of it.  Me and my companion dared not even get close. Neither of us had the guts to check it out. For me, I was afraid of cannibals. Not really, but it was a little sketchy to...

Bonjour tout le monde! On dit quoi?   Elder Hill checking in for another week!  The title of this week's email is the title of a book I've been reading. "The miracle of forgiveness" is written by Spencer W. Kimball and it's really good. It rips into sins and intents and then the miracle that is forgiveness.  The way he talks about sinning is a way that I've never looked at it like. Before, it's always been pretty lenient and more hopeful because after all, we aren't perfect. But it talks about that if we aren't intentionally trying to  either repent, or improve ourselves daily, we're sinning. Now the depth of whichever sin varies and that's the subject of the book. But I want to share a quick reminder. Remember the joy that comes from living His standards intentionally. If needed, truly repent and work your way back to that joy, or peace, or happiness, or surety that can only be found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. This isn't the spir...

Coucou tout le monde!! How everyone doing? It's true, I found real ice cream in Africa. It's more like Gelato but they call it ice cream so I do too. It's actually pretty good, and really close to the zone leaders apartement. So we've got zone conference tomorrow, my first one  , and are in the city of aboisso (our zone). Highlights:  I think some goats were staring at me like they've never seen a white man before, or something. It just stopped what it was doing and watched me walk past it, pretty funny. Our mission president set new goals for us and now we have to find 3 new people a day!! Crazy, but it has been working. I don't know how, but we have a small sector and are still finding people. We are about to see the fruits of our labors here, I can just feel it. I finished the chosen series, and they were pretty stinking good. I don't want to spoil it, but the main character is going to die. I don't know how yet, but he told his disciples. Crazy stuf...

I chose the title chef for two reasons (the email title) 1. Chef in french is what they use to call other people "Boss" and that's pretty funny so.. 2. We have been chef'ing it up these last couple of days. We've made some pretty cool meals. There isn't a whole lot of opportunity to eat out in the district of Ayamé, so me and the other companionship in the apartment have a cooking schedule that's saved my butt a few nights.  So far we've made, fried chicken, Kentucky fried chicken, spaghetti, and chili with maggi rice. Ice got a few photos so they'll be at the end.  I'm not going to do the weekly update part again, because most of my days are not very exciting so I'll just give highlights instead. We had interviews with stake president in the village of Aboisso, and I was able to buy some nice ingredients since they aren't in our village. Took the Baka drive home WITHOUT goats and enjoyed my ride (just a little). We did our first cont...
