Salut tous le monde! Ça dit quoi?
Yoooo!! Week 4 starting strong 💪
We've had a lot of fun with the French elders, I'll call them frenchies. But they've been a blast. It's fray how focused and unfocused they can be. They've take l taught us a lot of their slang and us thaem. I'll list some of the phrases we've been saying:
Ça dit quoi
Hit the possum
Piccore
Le gateau
BANG
Foculisez-vous
Fermer ton coeur!
You can put those into Google translate if you want, but the first one probably won't make sense, or the piccore one. so I'll just explain them.
- Ça dit quoi is just slang for what's up?
- Piccore is some strange thing they do where people will stick one of their knees out in front of somebody and if that person moves, then the first person sticking their knee out asks for a piccore. Which means peck, and the person who moves takes their hand and makes a pecking motion on the other person's hand. I know it's weird, but pretty funny.
OK let's start the weekly update.
Friday; we didn't get to go to the temple this day because the new district was getting settled in for the week. It was my first p-day with the new district and it was pretty fun. We went to the field and pulled out a soccer ball and played some soccer. That was pretty fun, but then we also went to the basketball gym to play some basketball.
Saturday; our district had a little different schedule where both of our classes were in the morning. So after 4:30 we had a free schedule. And we spent it doing nothing. I may have even gotten a good nap in
Sunday; another Go and Do experience which was pretty cool. I studied President Nelson's devotional in 2018 and it was pretty cool. I'll talk about it later in the spiritual thought.
Monday; my kandama came and I was able to pull that out and practice some more. I was able to grab my medication for Africa and it was nice to leave the campus for once. I also got my haircut. But other than that, it was pretty much just classes and food.
Tuesday; we only had one class today and then a devotional by the general authority, Peter Johnson. He was a really good speaker and shared amazing thoughts about conversion. He also gave a list of some principles I liked.
He shared the four invitations to witness the majesty of the moment and enhance ourworship in the house of the lord
1. Live the doctrine of Christ
2. Increase our understanding of the atonement of Christ
3. Minister to the one in ways that lead to the house of the lord
4. Invite and help others come unto Christ
Wednesday; the frenchies and my comp went to a class for people who came their first week so we did a comp exchange for them to do that while me and elder Lorenzon went to the gym to work out.
Thursday; the frenchies had three of those beginners classes and so me and elder lorenzon went on splits again. This time we didn't do anything so I could practice my kandama skills again.
That's pretty much it, nothing really out of the ordinary.
Spiritual thought: I want to kind of share what President Nelson talked about in his devotional. He brought up how we all should join the Youth Battalion. In any way we can. That means to progress the work of the gathering of Israel. We al have been sent here at this specific time to gather Israel.
He said "our heavenly father has reserved many of his most noble spirits- perhaps, I might say, his finest team for this final phase. Those noble spirits- those finest players- those heroes, are you!!
I love how he called us heroes. That really stuck out to me. You can be heroes in God's kingdom. One of my favorite things that president Nelson says in the talk, is a list he gives for everyone to do every now and then. And I invite you to do the same. Here's the list he asks us to do.
1. Hold a 7- day social media fast
2. Make a weekly sacrifice of time to the lord. (It doesn't have to be big, you just have to sacrifice something and replace it with time dedicated to the lord)
3. Have a thorough life assessment with the lord to ensure your feet are on the covenant path
4. Pray daily. For all to receive blessings of the gospel
5. Stand out... Be different... BE A LIGHT in a darkening world
I love these invitations and think they are so cool. I hope to do these invitations during and after my mission, and I hope you will want to try them too. Love you guys and see you in two years!!!
