Salut tout le monde!!!
We are officially in the final week of my stay here at the MTC. WOOO!!🎉🎉🎉
This week has been pretty chill with nothing too out of the ordinary.
Weekly Update:
Friday; My district went and did baptisms for the dead, and initiatories. Because our temple trip was in the afternoon, we didn't have time to do many other things. But we had class soon after, and finished the day
Saturday; We had our first two classes in the morning so when we finished at 4:30 we had a lot of time to spare. I think we went to the rec room for a second, then we went to the field. We tried to sneak in another hour, because we weren't there for the full hour, but they kicked most students out. I got to play some spikeball with my old district
Sunday; We started off with Priests Quorum and that was good, but the sacrament meeting was amazing. We had two people from our districts give talks and they killed it. One talked about how God will grow our relations with those we are not directly with during these two years. The other speaker talked about a personal experience he was able to extend and invitation to through basketball.
Then we had the go and do experience. This was pretty cool, I listened to a talk by Brother Jorg klebingat. He kind of brought up how we can have confidence in the lord, essentially. then we had the devo and ended the day
Monday; We had our first helping others appointment (or HOA). This is where people come to thr MTC to pretend to be an investigator and we as a company ionship need to prepare to teach them something. It went pretty well but of course forgot somethings. Oh, and it was completely in french... But it was pretty cool and went pretty smoothly. We had to teach for 15 minutes and we ran out of time.
Tuesday; Me and Elder Lorenzon (one of the elders in my district) go on a, usually daily, exchange. Because we have been here for 4+ weeks, we have the same schedule again for the first week as it's our districts first week. And it's our second first week. Ut we went on splits and I think I played the piano some. But we also had a
Wednesday; My district all went the to gym rogether. So me and Elder Lorenzon went to the gym filmed that pirates of the Caribbean video and I got a good ab workout in. I also got to say goodbye to Matt and Adam who were both leaving that day. It's crazy that some people are already starting. Marcus, is already out there teaching in the field.
Thudsday; Me and Elder Lorenzon went on our daily split and went to thr gym again. I hit shoulders and got another amazing workout in. We had a pretty average class with our teacher in the afternoon class, but the night class was amazing with another teacher. We really felt the spirit.
That's it for the week, nothing too special. Can't belive I've got about 4 days left until I leave for Africa. Really is the homestretch
Spiritual thought: I want to share some thoughts on a christ-like attribute I've been focusing on.
Firstly, I want to talk about the christlike attribute of patience, and I think that there are two types of patience; being patient when people or things in your life hurt or jnconvenience you, and having patience for yourself and your own self progression.
The first, I would say, is what people generally think of when they hear the word, patience. It is a great attribute to have towards others, and with some people it comes easily. Others have to work for it, or they struggle being patient in their lives. Either you feel your the one who struggles with being patient, or the one who does not, I know that each one of you can work for patience or other attributes of christ.
The other type of patience I would say, is a lot more difficult at times. I know for me, I struggled with self patience for a while. When yoh are patient with yourself, you accept your own imperfections. NOT THE FACT THAT YOU ARE IMPERFECT. When you accept your imperfections, you know that those imperfections can improve, and change for the better. You know and understand what needs to be done to improve. When you accept the fact that you are imperfect, that's all it becomes to you. A fact... and I'm 99.99% sure that facts are not supposed to change. When the whole purpose of life is to change, and improve more like our savior.
I know that for me, change had been difficult, I mean look at me. I am choosing to spend two years of my life in another country speaking another language. It's not going to be easy, but it will be rewarding. If we choose to accept our imperfections, God will turn them into strengths. In Ether 12:27, it says
"And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them."
I love how in the verse it tells us that God gave us weakness so that we can be humble. Humility is essential to have patience with yourself. Our band always said, "trust in the process" and not in what you see in the moment.
I know that I won't always have confidence in my ability on the mission. I know that I will have difficult days where I don't have faith in myself. But God has faith in me, and I hope that in those moments of weakness, God can give me strength to trust in his process. I hope that you guys can see how God is working through you in your moments of weakness and trials. I say these things in the name of Jesus christ amen.
And as always, Love you guys and if you made it this far, you're a dog (the best 👌)
