Spiritual thought:

Today, I want to talk about a "mighty change" that is promised to all who DESIRE it

I hope that by the end of this thought that you will want the DESIRE of this wonderful experience of change.

Now you might be saying, "Carter, I've already had a life changing experience that brought a great change in my life" and to that, I'd say... Nuh uh. 🙂‍↔️

I'm talking about CONVERSION, cause thats all a mighty change is. Conversion is not a single experience, but a process. We are called to this earth to learn how to live in heaven. Some principles we live here can bring happiness, but do not follow a celestial way of living. We may want to do things that are fun, but in the end won't be the true source of joy. That doesn't mean our happiness here isn't real, but it does mean that the more we know, the more it changes. Our search for joy changes slowly. Almost imperceptible. Sometimes for the better. Oftentimes for the worst.

So how do we bring " a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no more disposition to do evil" (Moroni 5:2). How can we become converted?

Primary answer; seek jesus and look for a relationship with him. He is mighty, and can "make weak things become strong" unto us. I've found that as I went around looking for my own desire, I lost the joy in where I was at. I looked at what I was missing instead of what God was missing: my heart. Once our hearts are turned to him, we can true have a conversion story like unto Alma. I mean look at Alma the younger with the sons of Mosiah. "They were the very vilest of sinners" and yet, "thus did the spirit of the lord work upon them"

Do you want this? Like, take a moment to reflect on these words. Do you want the spirit of the lord to WORK UPON YOU? If so, what do you do to invite it? A mighty change is possible. I know that each one of you have something about yourselves you wish you could change. First reflect, and wonder if it's an attribute that isn't in line with heaven. God won't keep anyone out because they're not funny enough. Those thoughts are NOT constructive. But the ones that seek a change in nature are like, "I react when others do/say that to/about me"

Please search for the christlike attributes. These are the guide to a sure way to happiness in ALL situations. We all need a conversion story, but once it starts; we must keep it going. Your experience today and tomorrow MUST NOT be your driving force for the years to come. Follow President Oaks desire for us all to "be or become active members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints" (President Oaks)

It requires WORK, EFFORT, and DILIGENCE. If you have not been on the forefront of your testimony, be there. Want to be there and God will grow the seed you have a planted. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

Ok, random facts of the week.

-Great spiritual week that started off rough, but made its way in the end. (1 miracle to be explained later)️

-Splits with some elders who argued with a member about which country is better: Congo or Côte D'Ivoire. #longeststayevver!!

-Zone conference of course was enlightening and loved seeing the new mission presidents on their introduction video. Can't wait to meet them in person!️

-Watched some alien war movie. Very intense but also very gory. We love our member visits. (Not our intention to watch, but they turned it on while we were eating) They're already had us in lock when they said "food"

-Rainy season is the best thing evvveeeerrr!! I LOVE RAINNNN. No more umbrellas for me

-Ok miracle time. We needed to squeeze in one more lesson for the day, because there was about to be a downpour of rain. We finished up with a friend and asked if she knew the house of the member we were wanting to visit. We didn't know where she lived so we asked and she said yes! Sweet, so we visit and start talking with the members who is in the young women's at church. Her mom comes in and looking a bit... not happy... reluctantly talks with us. We asked if she was a member, and she told us yes. "Oh, that's amazing! Why don't we see you at church?" She told us she used to have a testimony and fell. She now feels rejected by the ward because of some questionable moves by the bishop. But we taught with power, and officially invited her to church. I hoped that we can be the friends at church who she'll be comfortable to be around. But like I said before, she still wasn't too happy. Ok, lessons now over and we head for the door to leave. Nope, it begins downpouring and it keeps us in. We continue to have just a lighthearted chat where at the end, this mamma was cracking at anything yours truly said 🤵‍♂️ . Well my comedy helped too. But really was a tender moment that I really admired. Then continued to walk back in the rain anyway because it was getting too late.
