Après minuit?!
Whats good hein? Hope things are chilling back in the states and around the world. I'll explain the context right after the
Spiritual thought: Iterative perfection
Ok, I really think we made a trilogy of spiritual thoughts cause this one piggy backs off of last weeks as well.
This week we will talk about consistency. And to help me, I've asked Elder Dale G. Rendlund to help us today.
Dale, can you help us out by explaining what the word Iterative means?
"Iteratively means that we build on and improve with each repetition" - Dale G. Renlund
Thank you, so I never knew what this word meant before and I love it so much. It reminds me a lot of President Nelson's "Perfection Pending" talk where we do not start out perfect. Our job starts with a small draft that we repeat over and over again. But without changes to our draft, we do literally nothing.
Sometimes, we make errors when editing our lives, that's alright. Continue and progress. Keep the spiritual momentum so many of our prophets and apostles have clearly spoken about.
We know that our faith in Jesus Christ "is nourished as we pray daily, study the scriptures daily, reflect on the goodness of God daily, repent daily, and follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost daily."
Notice how he said daily. I want to reference back to the "now". We can't save up all our food to eat on Sunday. Then eat 7 days worth to prepare us for the week to come. So why do we leave ourselves so spiritually malnourished so often?
Well, because the effects are not as easily seen, but are equally devastating. So starving brings a natural reminder. I hope that you can think of some spiritual reminders we can place to let us know when our faith is low.
One response I think could answer the question is with the holy ghost. Dale? How can the holy ghost help us with our spiritual reminders?
"As the Holy Ghost exerts a greater influence in our lives, we progressively and iteratively develop Christlike attributes."
Ok, so he brought up the holy ghosts influence, as well as christ-like attributes. At the beginning of my mission, I wrote an email about each attribute in the preach my gospel. Strive to work these attributes into your soal. Like kneading sweet or savory ingredients into bread dough.
Ok, I know that it requires patience, and oftentimes hard work. But perfection is possible, and we can recieve rest one day. So please put in the effort to be a little kinder, even to those who are not kind to you at all. Develop his characteristics, and the holy ghost WILL be with forever and ever to warn against the spiritual hunger. I so testify in the name of jesus christ amen.
Weeklies:
- The story comes from the night before MLC as me and another elder chatted for until about 1:30 in the morning. I don't know exactly the time, but it was late...

- There was one time I was showing a little girl how to cross your eyes, then moving only one at a time. She wanted to try so I made her watch my finger as I touched her nose, then moved my finger to the side and it worked!! Haha, she was still tracking my finger and it was hilarious

- We've found this family and haven't gotten in contact with the parents after one contact. But from what it sounds like, they sound diligent in reading the book of mormon to the point this mom keeps it from her kids and brings it to work.

- Ran another run today (don't ask me how many miles, everything's measured in kilometers here and I don't even track that).

- we're going to turn this mission around with the new mission president. MLC was inspired and we talked about becoming a preach my gospel missionary

Ok that's the week I hope that all of yours was great. Keep up the great work
