Spiritual thought: From ground zero 0️⃣

Todays thought comes from what we talked about in Sunday school yesterday. It was pretty cool. Someone asked the question, what happens to someone if they get baptized and obey everything that is expected, but never go to the temple. Will not going to the temple make be something that halts your happiness. Basically, why is the temple necessary.

Then someone came up with a great response that I'd like to make a comparison. In french class, we learned how their grading system works. Your given an A at the start of the term, and all you can ever do is hurt your grade. So you try to get a grade A for the whole term. If it becomes a B, it cannot go back to an A. Get the idea? Then there's our standard. For our grade system, we start on ground zero and build up. An F if you will. So technically in this analogy, we all started life with an F πŸ€·‍♂️.

But...
It was never gods plan to leave it as such. You see, our goal here on earth is to expand our joy. Or to bring up our grade. When we make sacred covenants at baptism, ojr grade gets bumped up a bit. Oh, now the endowment covenants, and finally the sealing covenants all add to our joy. They don't subtract. Despite the F we all started with, joy is at the baseline. Even those with F's in life still are happy. God made this world that way. Isn't that so beautiful? So all god asks us to do is to is add to the talents we already got.

Like in his parable, Jesus gives the account of the talents. 2 of the three servants added to what they had already, and they were blessed. The last, did not and lost his privilege he'd been given. I know that as we continue down the covenant path, that our strength, knowledge, and faith WILL increase. This was always the goal. As a result, our happiness will increase in ways we've never seen before. I know that gods plan is perfect, and all we are asked to do is nothing compared to the blessings and joy that come after. So, I hope we'll stop thinking that life is like the french grading system where all we can do is hurt ourselves. No return from our mistakes.

Gods plan is merciful, and asks for us to use our agency to expand our joy. Please search for the spirit to be ever constant in your life. What a blessing I have had to grow up with it all my life. I know that God loves his children, and I testify of these things every day.
