Spiritual thought: What matters most
Sorry to jump on ya like that. For today, I'm pulling most of my thought from this talk by Elder Uchtdorf.

Of Things That Matter Most
I really loved this talk and invite everyone to go read it. But, I'll just share my thoughts in it.
I feel that as missionaries, we can oftentimes forget what the priorities are in our missions. For me, I've definitely gotten lost looking for friends so we could accomplish our goal for the week instead of looking for friends because there's people who are looking for it. Or visited some friends for the intent to bring them to church and not just to serve. It's pretty freaking hard to remember often, all people need is just something small.
In fact, I learned it was kinda selfish of me to go into a lesson expecting an outcome and if it didn't happen, I must not have done something right. But people have agency. Uchtdorf's message though was for everyone, not just the missionaries. Elder Uchtdorf used many examples but one stood out to me profoundly.
"For example, it wasn’t long after astronauts and cosmonauts orbited the earth that they realized ballpoint pens would not work in space. And so some very smart people went to work solving the problem. It took thousands of hours and millions of dollars, but in the end, they developed a pen that could write anywhere, in any temperature, and on nearly any surface. But how did the astronauts and cosmonauts get along until the problem was solved? They simply used a pencil."
A pencil... In this example, people still were looking for the answer to their problems, but while they were looking for the complex answer, they used a simple one for a time. Often, we need to take a step back, and slow down. In our lives, everyone is trying to make their cars faster, internet work quicker, and amusement to be more easily accessible. In short, this modern life makes us think we need to catch up, but in reality; a break is the best medicine. I know some of you do not like to slow down, and I am exactly the same way. But brash, or hasty decision makings is not what the lord intended. He wanted us to make decisions when we have the influence of the holy ghost with us. That doesn't always mean that we'll get thoughts in our head directing us. But that when we choose to invite the holy ghost every day, we make inspired choices often without knowing it. So, take a step back. Analize and plan.
Uchtdorf's plane analogy explains that through turbulence, it is much safer for it to get through it slows it's speed. But that doesn't mean that we'll be relaxed and slow to remember God, but in fact diligent.
Where do your priorities lie? Trying to eradicate the evil in our lives can distract us from the goal of being good.
Weeklies:
- Our district decided to do a small activity on the said where we split up into 4 teams of two. Were 8 and there's 2 people for every region in Africa (except Americans). We had 4 regions compete: Congo; Elders Katuadi and Nsilulu, Ghana; Sisters Akakpoh and Mensah, รles (Madagascar and Mauritia); Sisters Semitoude and Rasoanaivo, and the US; Elder Mckee and I.
It turned out we'll and I'll put the photo in the following email. So check that out.
- Picked up a piano and have really been shredding the keys with it

- We had zone conference and got some situations figured out. (Funny coincidence, nothing bad)
- Got preached to by a Jehovah's witness and could only spit back what our friends tell us when we invite them to church.
"Uh... I already got to church"
bro, I swear it was just a reaction.
Sincerely, your favorite Chinese

Here's that food activity. We have 3 teams that participated (lame congolese were buzzkills)
Make four vertical lines and those are the regions: starting on the left, Ghana, America, Mauritanie, Madagascar.
