Return of the Giants
Hey guys I hope you had a great week like me. I can't believe it's saturday again. Let's get started.
Spiritual thought: That our posterity may know
I was able to go to the temple yesterday and it was a great time. I kept asking throughout the session to feel the spirit because I have not been locked in with my scripture studies at home. After the session, the word posterity was the only thing I was thinking about. There were moments when it stuck out more than anything.
I had the thought that we do all that we do for our posterity or for those who follow us. Whether religious or not, it is a core to human nature. To learn, and teach those after us so they can learn more than we had the time on this earth to learn.
Nephi teaches us that the entire purpose of the book of mormon is "that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins" (2 Nephi 25:26)
There are so many things we can pass on to those who follow us. Good and Bad habits make up everyday and when we think about those in the future who may follow in our footsteps we may change some of our initial decisions. If you knew that your son/little brother daughter/little sister would follow you down this path, do you believe that it will bring them joy? If not, why do you think it would bring joy into your life? Avoid the behaviors and attributes that don't edify. You may be in the right, but if the other person has no desire to change there is no point in being angry/prideful/bitter/ boastful. Even if it gives you your desired result.
So let us grow together and work as a team instead of against ourselves. The race is against sin, and we cannot continue down the path if we suspect our teammates conspire against us. If I want to score a goal but I think my teammate wants to score in our own goal, I'll be taken out of play.
But when it is all complete, I hope that God can give us this sweet promise as we finish our work. It's found in Jacob 5 and it says
"Blessed art thou; for because ye have been diligent in laboring with me in my vineyard, and have kept my commandments, and have brought unto me again the natural fruit."
What a sweet final phrase from God. Me and two other guys in the apartment just finished a deep cleaning and now that the apartment is spotless, I can see the joy that comes from working diligently. We each had a role to play, I the scrubber, Elder 1 the sweeper, and Elder 2 with the towel and squigee. We three worked diligently and cleaned the apartment before 9. I feel the same example can apply to much more situations. Namely: marriage with spouse, character-building with god, mission work with your companion, or any team building situation.
My invitation is to be more constructive than destructive. Construction uses both. But nothing can be built if we destroy more than we build.
Weeklies:
- I went to a baptism of someone in my last area and it was great ti say hi to everyone.

- Monday, I got a call from SO many missionaries calling about their money for the two weeks. There are a lot more bank card problems when numbers change
